F.A.Q.

About Grid Connect Systems

What size system do I need?

This does not depend on the size of your house but on the answers to three important questions:

What is your electricity usage in kilowatt hours (kWh) per day? This can be found on your electricity bill.

What portion of your electrical demand you wish to generate with solar? This will depend in most cases, on how much you are prepared to spend.

What physical un-shaded space do you have available for the modules? Our modules are approximately 1600mm x 790mm

Australia Wide Solar always assists their clients on how to answer these questions to find the best solution.

How long will the installation take and how much does it cost?

A typical installation takes 2-3 days. Some energy utilities require a new meter and an inspection which can take up to a week.

The cost is usually determined after a consultation with the client and a site visit. A sample price guide is available with our information pack.

What do I do about the energy utilities?

Your solar installation does have to have approval from your energy company and either a bi -directional/ export/ time of use meter will need to be installed. Australia Wide Solar will provide you with assistance for this as well.

About Stand Alone Systems

How long will my stand alone system last?

Top quality panels, such as those in Australia Wide Solar's range, are designed to last at least 30 years and carry a 25-year limited warranty. They are able to withstand arctic cold, heat, tropical humidity, winds in excess of 200kph and 25mm (1 inch) hail. Batteries will last up to 10 years if you use high quality deep cycle types.

What is the best orientation for the panels?

For maximum performance, where possible face the module towards the Equator ( ie due north in the Southern Hemisphere). Optimum tilt angles equals the latitude of the location.
