Tesla home batteries maximize the usefulness of your solar panels and offer a variety of backup electricity supply solutions. Tesla Powerwall is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery designed to store energy at a residential level for load shifting, backup power and self-consumption of solar power generation. Powerwall consists of Tesla’s lithium-ion battery pack, liquid thermal control system and software that receives dispatch commands from a solar inverter. The unit mounts seamlessly on a wall and is integrated with the local grid to harness excess power and give customers the flexibility to draw energy from their own reserve.
Solar electricity at night
Powerwall stores electricity generated by solar panels during the day and makes it available to your home in the evening. This bridges the gap between peak solar and peak demand, allowing you to use your photons when you need them. The Tesla Powerwall benefits for consumers are threefold. Home owners can harness the benefits of rooftop solar by using the storage generated at night; they can use as a backup during power outages and also store electricity from the grid when electricity rates are low.
The Sun releases energy in the form of sunlight
Solar panels capture the sunlight to harness its energy
An inverter transforms this energy into usable electricity
Tesla Powerwall stores this electricity harnessed from solar panels during the day
Monitoring System – Simply controlled via a web and mobile app interface
Use your energy in the evening when energy is most expensive
The older generation home flooded batteries are bulky, expensive to install and expensive to maintain. In contrast, Powerwall’s lithium ion battery inherits Tesla’s proven automotive battery technology to power your home safely and economically. Completely automated, it installs easily and requires no maintenance.
The original Powerwall was a breakthrough product design that made renewable energy available on demand.
Powerwall 2 has twice the energy capacity of its predecessor, can be mounted on the wall or ground, is offered in AC and DC variants, and is always connected through the Tesla app.

How it Works
A typical Powerwall system includes solar panels, an inverter for converting electricity between direct current and alternating current, a meter for measuring battery charge, and in backup applications, a secondary circuit that powers key appliances. Which components are required depends on how you use your home battery. When solar panels produce more power than a home needs, the excess solar is sent back to the grid. The Powerwall enables a homeowner instead to capture and store excess solar energy produced during the day for use at night. The result is greater self-consumption of solar generation and reduced energy costs.
